Với mong muốn làm một tác phẩm có sức chấn động như Danh gia vọng tộc của Trung Quốc, giám chế nổi tiếng Lư Thiêm Thắng đă quy tụ một dàn diễn viên tài năng như Đặng Tụy Văn, Nhạc Hoa, Lê Diệu Tường, Huệ Anh Hồng, Tạ Tuyết Tâm, Thương Thiên Nga cùng ngôi sao trẻ Ngô Trác Hy tham gia bộ phim Phận má hồng (Cân quắc kiêu hùng).
Bối cảnh chính của phim là một tiệm buôn gạo, ông chủ Nhạc Hoa có bốn bà vợ: Đặng Tụy Văn, Tạ Tuyết Tâm, Thương Thiên Nga và Huệ Anh Hồng. Vốn thông minh và sâu sắc, dù vai vế bé nhất nhưng Đặng Tụy vẫn cố bồi dưỡng con trai ḿnh là Ngô Trác Hy trở thành người kế nghiệp. Nhờ vậy, sau khi Nhạc Hoa mất, Đặng Tụy Văn nghiễm nhiên được giao trọng trách cai quản gia đ́nh. Điều đó khiến cho bà vợ nguyên phối Tạ Tuyết Tâm, bà hai Thương Thiên Nga và bà ba Huệ Anh Hồng không hài ḷng. Một cuộc chiến đă xảy ra. Làm thế nào Đặng Tụy Văn có thể vừa “chống” lại ba bà vừa giữ được uy tín cho tiệm buôn gạo của gia tộc?
Có độ dài 25 tập, Phận má hồng được xem là phiên bản Hong Kong của bộ phim Danh gia vọng tộc từng tạo cơn sốt khi công chiếu trên màn ảnh nhỏ Đài truyền h́nh Trung ương Trung Quốc cách đây 5 năm. Nhân vật mà Đặng Tụy Văn đảm nhận mang h́nh ảnh của Bạch Văn Thị do nữ nghệ sĩ Tư Cầm Cao Oai đóng, và nhân vật của Lê Diệu Tường thể hiện có bóng dáng của Bạch Cảnh Kỳ do nghệ sĩ Trần Bảo Quốc thủ diễn trong Danh gia vọng tộc.
