Luciano Moggi, the disgraced former Juventus general manager, believes Italy boss Marcello Lippi won't return to his former club after the World Cup.

There has been a lot of speculation ever since last summer that Lippi would become a Juventus director after the finals in South Africa, something he has denied.

However, it has caused a great deal of friction within the Italian FA, prompting some to suggest that Giancarlo Abete is already looking for Lippi's replacement.

Speaking on Studio Stadio, Moggi said: “At the end of the season Lippi will not return to Juventus either as a Coach or as a director.

“He might do little in South Africa because the material available to him isn't extraordinary, but it certainly won't be his fault.

“As for his recent argument with Inter, I say that he did well in not going to Appiano Gentile because there are no Italian players at Inter who enter into his plans.

“For now, Santon and Balotelli are not part of the Italy squad.”

It wasn't long before Moggi turned his attention to Juventus's current crisis, which shows no sign of abating under new boss Alberto Zaccheroni.

“Juventus are playing badly because in order to play Diego they line up with a trequartista instead of in a 4-4-2 which would be far more agreeable

“The team is now lacking self-esteem. To lighten the tension it was necessary to bring in a Coach who is more cheerful and dynamic than Zaccheroni, who I would never have hired.

“Anyway Zaccheroni's results are showing that Ciro Ferrara isn't guilty of creating the current situation,” Moggi concluded.
